The State Life Insurance Company

The State Life Insurance Company, a OneAmerica financial partner, offers individual long term care insurance.
The Indianapolis-based company was founded in 1894. The company is licensed and authorized to conduct life insurance business in 46 states and the District of Columbia.

In 1894, eight prominent Indianapolis businessmen borrowed $500, rented a one-room downtown office and founded The State Life Insurance Company. Under the leadership of Andrew M. Sweeney, the first company president and policyholder, State Life was granted a charter Sept. 5 of that year.

100 years later, in 1994, State Life began a strategic alliance with American United Life Insurance Company® (AUL), creating the first in a series of partnerships that culminated in the formation of OneAmerica Financial Partners, Inc., in 2000. As a result, AUL is financially responsible for State Life products.
